Total Supply has partnered with Wellington-based laser specialist ikeGPS to introduce Spike, a smart laser measurement solution, to the New Zealand sign and digital graphics industry.

Following Spike’s successful penetration across the US market, ikeGPS has formed preferred vendor relationships with the major sign franchises as well as reselling agreements with some of the industry’s largest regional distributors. With international success in place, ikeGPS now looks to replicate its achievements at home.

The company developed and manufactures Spike in its Wellington headquarters. Jeff Ross, chief marketing officer at ikeGPS, says, “In less than a year, the US sign and graphics market has embraced Spike for its money and time-saving capabilities, and we see great potential to continue this momentum on an international level. We’re excited to offer this powerful solution to the New Zealand signage market.”

All done with lasers: spike means no more ladders for measuring signage areas

Spike enables sign and digital graphics companies to quickly capture accurate measurements of the width, height and area of signage locations from a smartphone or tablet picture. They no longer need a ladder, bucket truck and tape measure to create estimates. The measurements of the sign or graphic location are saved with the Spike photo and can be shared with customers, designers or production team to create job estimates and design proofs, assess installation and complete permit applications. If additional measurements are needed, users can refer to their saved Spike photos at any time to make modifications. There’s no need to return to the site for further measurements or estimations.

Total Supply says this saves sign companies time and overhead costs on a traditionally lengthy process. Morgan John, general manager of Total Supply, says, “We look forward to helping New Zealand sign shops completely transform their businesses to work more efficiently and at a lower cost with Spike. It’s great to finally see a measurement solution that actually works for the signage market and takes the place of ladders and bucket trucks on site surveys.”

Total Supply, the largest sign supply reseller in New Zealand, carries brands such as 3M, Arlon, Avery, EFI, Graphtec and RollsRoller. Although recently purchased by Spicers Limited, Total will continue to run independently with the support of Spicers’ infrastructure and expanded product line.
