Warehouse Stationery has moved further into the print market with its uptake of a locally created printing app called Printicular, which enables users to print all of their photos from their phone from any location.
The concept for the app originated with local creative agency MEA, which subsequently launched it in the USA three years ago. It has made its way into over 9000 Walgreens stores in the USA and 1600 dm-droguerie pharmacies in Germany. So far, users have printed 10 million photographs from using the app.
MEA, a full service creative agency, has offices in New Zealand, Australia and the USA. Rodney Macfarlane, founder and chief executive of MEA, says, “In the age of the smartphone, people still love printing photos. Whether it’s for scrapbooking, home decorating or sending new baby snaps to Granny, Printicular makes photo printing easy, convenient and much quicker than conventional kiosks.”
Users can download the free app, select photos, print to their nearest Warehouse Stationery store, and pay when they collect their prints. Pejman Okhovat, chief executive of Warehouse Stationery, says, “We’re excited to work with MEA to bring Printicular back home to New Zealand, and to be involved with a Kiwi company that is leading in photo printing innovation.”
The app lets users print in a range of sizes including square print formats. MacFarlane adds, “Printing photos has the added benefit of ensuring that your most precious memories are safe. People know they can get their photos out from the cloud, and safely store them at home or share them physically.”
