The company has also purchased new technologies from manroland to upgrade its existing six-color Roland 700 presses. Nabil Askari, general manager of Orora New Zealand says the Orora management, along with their procurement team, worked to ensure they selected the right press for quality and productivity, describing it as “the best value for money.” He expects a boost to Orora’s speed and production.
In New Zealand, Orora won 14 gold medals and five other awards at this year’s Pride in Print Awards for 2015. In Australia, Orora received the Best Process Innovation in the 2015 BRW Most Innovative Companies.
Steve Dunwell, managing director of Manroland Australasia, says, “In today’s environment, it’s not just about installing a new press. It’s also about changing the mindset of the operators to cope with the automation and high speed operation of the new presses. We are sure that our partnership with Orora will help them to gain the maximum productivity from the new press.”
New technology on the press includes a colour control system that automatically measures and regulates ink density at full production speed without the need to pull sheets out of the press. Manroland says the system, called Inline ColorPilot, saves time, improves colour stability and reduces wastage during makeready and job changeover, offering consistent print quality, increased productivity, and reduced production cost.
The press uses a one-touch network system designed for easy and reliable measurement and evaluation of the machine performance. Manroland says this system tracks the precise and complete tracking of production time, supplies, downtime, material collection of good sheet and waste sheet counts.
Orora’s packaging offering includes corrugated boxes, folding cartons, multi-wall bags and sacks. Its operation includes a world-class recycled paper mill, aluminium beverage cans, glass bottles, and a range of packaging services including innovation, design and research.
Askari says, “We absolutely understand that brand recognition and differentiation are vital for our customers’ success. It is these customers’ needs that drive us to continue to invest in the world’s first-class technologies. That way we can deliver the best packaging and printing to our customers.”
