Mimaki has a new compact flatbed cutting plotter, CFL-605RT, which it says will allow printers to produce high quality, cost-effective output. It will make its debut at Auspack in March.
Blue Print Imaging supplies Mimaki in New Zealand. Director Geoff Milliken says we can expect to see these new machines later in the year. The new cutting table also supports immediate finishing of packaging and prototypes, offering both creasing and cutting capabilities, as well as printing onto goods and packages, and cutting of cushioning materials.
Mimaki says new flatbed cutting plotter complements the UJF-6042, achieving on demand production of the original goods by providing the whole production platform. It accommodates material sizes up to oversized A2, and features a variety of functions, including creasing and eccentric, tangential and reciprocating cutting.
Mimaki says the increased demand for on demand production of prototypes and small lots, both for products and their packaging encouraged the company to deliver the new machine. The eccentric cutter has a maximum cutting thickness of 1mm with an optimal downface setting between 30gm and 1,kg. The tangential cutter features a maximum cutting thickness of 2mm with high downforce pressure, including materials such as reflective vinyl and rubber sheets. The reciprocating cutter has a maximum 10mm cutting thickness for materials such as foam or cardboard and uses a vertical reciprocating motion.
The creasing roller creases materials for a perfect package. Downforce pressures are adjustable from 500gm to 1kg.
Auspack 2015 takes place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from March 24 to 27.
