This year’s Pride in Print Awards will see new sub-categories and a revamp of existing categories that reflect changes in the industry.
Labels and wide format display work, two industry sectors that continue to grow, receive recognition in the awards along with digital print, now recognised in a new sub-category under Specialty Products.
Sue Archibald, awards manager at Pride In Print, says the Pride In Print Awards continues to evolve with industry trends. She says, “The changes capture what is happening in the real world. Print buyers are putting more effort into areas such as labels for wine, food and beverage. Retailers are spending more time trying to make an impact with customers with point-of-sale displays, using large-format printing. Designers are thinking outside the square with how they can apply digital print to new materials, so that personalised solutions can be found for flooring or wall coverings. We are moving to embrace those changes.”
The Pride In Print Awards has updated four categories for 2015. Under Category 1 for Publications, booklets and brochures now have their own section. Category 3 for Packaging sees a new sub-category added for retail and display packaging, aimed at point-of-sale supermarket material. In Category 4 for Labels, the awards have separated entries into wine, food and beverage, and other. Category 7 for Specialty Products has had a new sub-category created for other, which includes printing on to materials such as glass, wood, and tiles.
Archibald adds, “Pride In Print is interwoven with the culture of New Zealand’s print industry. As it grows and changes, so do the Awards. We always stay current and relevant.”
The time has come for companies to ensure their entries make it into this year’s awards. Regular entries close on January 31, while late entries close off on February 28. The awards night will take place on May 1 at the TSB Arena in Wellington.
