Its first sale of the Elite perfect binder was to Deed Printing several months ago, and the machine has proved very popular since being introduced says AMS sales manager Robbie van de Lisdonk.
AMS also sells all Fastbind's consumables from the hot melt adhesive to a range of covers, along with the entire range of machinery from the hard cover making and creasing equipment.
Located in the small Waikato town of Waiuku, Deed Printing specialises in the production of short run books, producing between 50 and 2000 copies at a time. The purchase of the Elite has enabled it to bring all its production in-house.
Director, Bill Deed, says he had been looking for second hand binding machinery, but after seeing the Fastbind Elite he was impressed enough to see the potential for this compact machine in the book printing business and company's busy copy centre.
"It was important to me to find a product that was able to have the versatility that I required. A fully-fledged perfect binder would not have been suitable to use for the copy shop. I then came across the Fastbind Elite and I was impressed with it's easy of use and fast preparation time," he says.
Another consideration for Bill was the ability of the unit to glue various stocks including coated papers.
"The Fastbind Elite machine is good on most stocks we have tried on it. Offsets and recycled papers glue well, but I was amazed at the suitability of the unit on coated stocks which sometimes can cause some problems on smaller binding machines."
