A major focus for PrintCity project activity in 2006 has been Value Added Printing of Newspapers (VAPoN).

IfraExpo this year sees the first public presentation of this important PrintCity VAPoN study. This includes input by MAN Roland, MEGTEC, Sun Chemical, UPM, Adphos Eltosch, Ifra and others.

This study deals with various questions including how newspaper printers and publishers can open up new business opportunities to increase turnover and how they can select materials and press equipment that meet their future needs best and as economically as possible.

PrintCity will also present its Paper Roll Diameter project, reviewing the customer benefits of increasing newspaper paper reel diameters to 1500mm, of interest to the newspaper market worldwide.

PrintCity was founded in 1999 and its members work together through different suppliers to demonstrate practical solutions using complete, compatible systems to industry-wide issues and to promote the power of print in today’s communications mix.

It is now established in more than 180 countries, representing more than 40 businesses with a combined turnover of 30 billion euros and 160,000 employees.
