IIR Exhibitions, now the owners of Ipex in Britain (along with other leading European print events such as Digital Print World, Northprint and Newstec) have decided to stage the event next year in New Delhi.
IIR says the city is India’s number one print region and the inaugural Ipex South Asia 2007 to be held in October, will cover every aspect of the print process and “unite the whole of the South Asian market.”
“In the last few years, the South Asian graphic arts industry has captured the world’s attention and India’s increasing influence on the global economy is seen every day. With a population of 1.1 billion and a literacy rate of 65% and growing, it is also a massive market for print,” the UK-based company says.
Ipex South Asia will run in Delhi every other year and is designed to be staged between the other major international shows such as Drupa and Ipex (UK).
The Indian even is being held at the new India Expo Centre, Expo XXI venue in Noida, away from the city’s choking traffic, and accessible from both New Delhi’s business district and the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
IIR says the timing for the trade show is perfect, just as the national government commits to reducing the tax burden on manufacturers and suppliers.
Exhibitors at Ipex South Asia 2007 will represent all aspects of the graphic arts process, including pre-press, press manufacture (including digital presses, newspaper presses), post-press, converting and packaging, consumables and used machinery.
A pan-regional marketing campaign will target visitors with decision-making authority to visit the exhibition, free of charge, from across the length and breath of India as well as Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It also aims to attract senior buyers from markets like the UAE, CIS countries and East Africa.
