Guests were reminded of the first Australian sale of the multi million dollar press by Heidelberg Australia managing director, Andy Vels Jensen. Scott Print in Perth has purchased two XL 105s, a five-colour and a six-colour with coater.
“At the beginning of PacPrint I made the statement that we would in this fiscal year endeavour to sell at least four XL105 presses in the region,” says Vels Jensen. “Before we have even officially launched the press to this market, we have now sold two: an indication we will exceed our target and clear recognition of the advantages this new press delivers.”
The launch itself was an extravaganza, with the Heidelberg showroom decked out to suit the high performance theme, which was reiterated by guest speaker Rex Pemberton, the youngest Australian to ever climb Mount Everest.
As a 21-year-old, Pemberton achieved his life-long dream to scale the world’s highest mountain in May this year.
“Heidelberg is a company that believes in peak performance and I am a person that believes in peak performance,” Pemberton says.
He told Heidelberg staff and customers about his expedition and the challenges he overcame to reach Everest’s peak.
The Speedmaster XL 105 is Heidelberg’s latest high-end peak performance commercial and packaging press. Fifteen years in the making, Vels Jensen says the XL 105 is the result of Heidelberg’s commitment to research and development.
“The XL 105 takes a sheet of paper on a completely new ride,” he says. “It has already taken Europe by storm.”
Rated at 18,000 sheets per hour, the XL 105 has reduced makeready times, has a greater maximum production speed and shorter production times, increasing productivity by up to 30 per cent.
