Soar Communications Group (SCG) has implemented HP Site Flow, aiming to improve its digital printing operations.

HP says SCG’s strategic investment enables the company to automate digital workflows, eliminate prepress bottlenecks, and reduce manual touchpoints in job processing. With over 150 jobs processed daily, HP Site Flow allows SCG to batch process jobs, automating everything from file uploads to press preparation.

Benefits include faster turnaround times, reduced staffing costs, and minimised wastage, which align with SCG’s sustainability goals.

The automation that HP Site Flow provides allows SCG to consider additional print on demand solutions and third party online print jobs, opening doors to new business opportunities and revenue streams. These software enhancements streamlined operations and empower SCG to meet the growing demands of online platforms with speed and efficiency.

Seamless job processing

Fred Soar, joint managing director of SCG, says, “HP Site Flow removes the repetitive and time consuming tasks from prepress, empowering our team to focus on more value driven activities. Having no prepress time means each job can go straight to print. Jobs can move straight to print without operator intervention.

“Once set up, Site Flow runs automatically, ensuring seamless job processing. This efficiency enables our team to shift focus toward more complex, high-value projects, fostering a culture of innovation within the company.”

Enhanced capabilities

In December 2024, SCG automated 38 per cent of its digital orders through Site Flow, underscoring its ability to deliver at scale during peak periods, according to HP.

HP adds that integrating its PrintOS further enhances SCG’s capabilities, simplifying workflows and ensuring accurate, efficient job processing. Enda Kavanagh, HP Software & Solutions sales lead in APJ, says, “SCG’s adoption of HP Site Flow showcases the transformative potential of automation software in the print industry. By leveraging our technology, SCG is achieving greater efficiency, sustainability, and market competitiveness, setting a benchmark for digital print service providers in the region.”

SCG’s collaboration with HP marks a new chapter in its journey toward fully automated digital printing. As the industry continues to embrace AI and advanced automation, SCG says it has positioned itself to remain at the forefront, delivering faster, more reliable, and environmentally conscious solutions to its customers.

Combining expertise in print, logistics, and packaging with creative and publishing excellence, SCG stands as New Zealand’s largest independent communications group.
