Pride In Print organisers, who have confirmed the inevitable postponement of the awards show, have also pointed to positive developments for this year’s awards.
First, judging has taken place and the results are in. Judges report a stunning array of entries and a worthy set of winners. Over the next few weeks, the Pride In Print Committee will discuss the options for delivering these results at a later date and will keep us informed. Managing to complete the competition judging befiore quarantine and self-isolation measures would have prevented them taking place is a plus.
Also, the awards show can still take place but not until restricrtions are lifted and it is safe for people to congregate in large numbers. Obviously, no on knows when this will happen but it will happen. The government announcement that gatherings of 500 or more people should not proceed at the present time means that the awards presentation scheduled for May 8 in Auckland could not take place then. Because of the uncertainty of the situation, and the short time frame since the announcement, Pride In Print can’t yet provide a new date – but this will also come.
Sue Archibald, manager Pride In Print Awards, says, “This current situation is a new challenge to all of us. We are monitoring the situation and will advise as soon as possible new dates and updates on 2020 Award announcements.
“We will update everyone as soon as we have news to report. In the interim please stay safe and we look forward to celebrating with you all very soon.”
