NZSDA Awards of Excellence
The NZSDA Awards of Excellence recognises and acknowledges outstanding design and craftmanship across a broad range of sign making methods and technologies

Entries have opened for this year’s New Zealand Sign and Display Awards.

Nick Baty, president of NZSDA, says the awards web site has already opened. He says, “This year is the twentieth year that the Association has been running the awards, and the standard keeps getting better. Entries for this year close on March 5, which gives you a month to get your entries registered.”

Open to all businesses and people actively involved in sign making within New Zealand, entries must comprise work completed in the 12 months immediately prior to the entry closing date of March 5 2016.

Brian Fairchild, secretary for NZSDA, says the awards give the industry an opportunity to celebrate

the excellence that exists in the work Signmakers complete. He says, “Sign making in New Zealand is truly of a global standard – from the more traditional aspects of the industry such as brush lettering, gilding and airbrushing, through to the modern techniques that computerisation has brought to the craft. It is fair to say that we are blessed with some of the best, most creative, and most innovative craftsmen in the world.”

The judging panel this year consists of Nick Baty, Dean Johnstone, Paul Mendes De Costa. Baty says, “I am sure our new recruit Paul will add a fresh perspective to the judging panel. This will be my third and final year judging, so if anyone is interested in putting their name forward for a three year stint starting in 2017 please feel free to give Brian Fairchild a call to find out what is involved.”
