The NZSDA 2025 Sign Display Awards of Excellence entries will close on April 28.

Mikayla Hopkins, lead projects, events, and marketing specialist at the NZSDA, says, “We are encouraging all sign makers across the country to enter their best projects. There is a huge range of categories, so there is sure to be something for everyone. It’s a chance for you to showcase your most innovative, creative, and outstanding work from the past year and gain well deserved recognition within the industry.

“Winning or even being a finalist in the Awards of Excellence provides a fantastic opportunity to boost your reputation, celebrate your team’s hard work, and gain visibility among peers and potential clients. It is also a requirement for achieving Master Sign Maker Accreditation, so we strongly encourage anybody hoping to achieve the accreditation to submit an entry.

“Notable awards are also open for nominations, so even if you haven’t found an award category that suits, you can still nominate yourself or someone you know for a notable award.”

NZSDA is also calling for nominations for the NZSDA Apprentice of the Year Award. Mikayla says, “Check out the NZSDA website and nominate your apprentice for this important award. This will be a year of celebrations, and we will acknowledge and recognise the amazing people in our industry and the work that they do.”

Top Tips from an Awards Judge

  • Submit good quality photos, as the judges will zoom in to look at the finer details.
  • Understand the categories well. If you are submitting the same project into multiple categories, ensure to personalise the description to meet the unique requirements of each category.
  • Get to know the judges as each of them specialises in a different area and will be looking out for different things during the judging process.
