Looking to broaden its clients’ capabilities, Roland DG has added the VersaUV LEF-300 flatbed inkjet printer to its portfolio.

The company says the new device prints on a broader range of substrates including acrylic, wood, board, metal, glass, plastic, fabric, natural and synthetic leather, offering applications for printing on three-dimensional items, such as pens, smartphone cases, signs, personalised awards, giftware, and promotional items.

The new printer has four print heads and two UV-LED lamps, andan expanded 770mm x 330mm print area. Roland DG has doubled the number of white and clear (gloss) ink nozzles from the previous model for increased density and opacity and faster build-up of multiple layers for three-dimensional textures.

The VersaUV LEF-300 uses Roland DG’s proprietary CYMK, White and Clear ECO-UV inks, which the company says reduces odour and the shrinking of thin film materials like BOPP, PE and PET when curing. In addition to a 220 cc cartridge, Roland has introduced a larger 500 cc ink cartridge. It prints on products up to 100mm high and 8kg in weight, with a vacuum table for holding thin materials in place.
