Megara, represented in New Zealand by Plastech International, has launched a new digital sheet onto the wide format market with several more in the pipeline.
The Melbourne based manufacturer of Promeg Digital has added Frosted Clear to its Promeg digital sheet range of digital media, used on wide format UV flatbed printers. Megara’s research and development team has also worked on four new varieties: Marmo, described as which is 100 per cent recycled and 100 per cent carbon neutral; Dueco, a duplex white; another Marmo called 50 per cent recycled and 100 per cent carbon neutral; Blockout, and an A-B-A triplex sheet, with a recycled middle layer allowing printing on two sides with no show-through, and a recycled black sheet.
Megara has made its own polypropylene sheet locally for over 30 years.Ian Sanderson, marketing manager at Megara marketing, says the new products will give designers and printers the opportunity for a more design-lead approach, exploring more options for end products. He says, “A lot of flatbed printers can now print white and the black sheet means even more options, and the same with the Blockout with its middle layer allowing them to print on both sides.”
Plastech International has distributed Megara solutions for almost 25 years. Bruce Cracroft, managing director at Plastech, says the new Frosted Clear’s translucency adds an extra dimension to any digital or screen-printed job, taking advantage of either natural light or backlighting. It can be printed both sides, hinged, folded, creased, die-cut and curved.
He says Promeg Digital, specifically formulated for wide format digital printing, has exceptional environmental credentials. He says, “It is optimised for better, quicker ink adhesion (no primer required); printable in full colour on both sides, non toxic, resistant to moisture, chemicals and solvents, and being manufactured in Australia, it is always readily available.
“That’s a big plus for our customers here in New Zealand. We don’t have to source it at the other side of the world. It is a reliable, durable, 100 per cent recyclable and cost effective product with constant colour consistency. This translates to reduced risk for customers of Promeg Digital and provides confidence that the media won’t let them down.”
