Kodak has extended its partnership in AI with PerfectPattern, a specialist in innovative artificial intelligence solutions for manufacturing industries.
A new agreement sees Kodak will taking a license for the source code of PerfectPattern’s sPrint One software. This will allow Kodak to further develop the version of sPrint One used in the Kodak Prinergy on demand workflow. This agreement extends the companies’ partnership that began at drupa 2016.
Kodak says the arrangement will enable closer integration between sPrint One’s functionality and the cloud based Prinergy on demand workflow. It aims for a more streamlined print job preparation. Kodak already uses sPrint One as the engine for the optional Kodak Dynamic Print Planning Service. This delivers automatic, optimised job ganging and press planning in a single processing step, taking account of numerous printer-specific parameters.
The company says the tighter integration will help printers achieve more highly automated workflow processes. It add that they will also see greater production efficiency and lower production and material costs.
Todd Bigger, vice president for Software, Kodak Print Division, says, “This step will enable Prinergy on demand to utilise innovative AI technology more easily and more directly than ever by providing an integrated platform with Industry 4.0 and automation features unmatched throughout the printing industry.”
“It will strengthen Kodak’s portfolio of high performance, cloud-based workflow solutions, which printers can tailor precisely to their needs.”
