Epson has unveiled the SureColor S7160 eco solvent printer, the latest addition to its next generation of large format signage printers.
Epson says the new printer builds on the success of its predecessor, the SC-S40600, which has achieved over 11,000 units in global sales. The company says it has designed the SC-S7160 to deliver outstanding image quality, productivity, ease of use and reliability at a minimal cost.
The S7160 will make its regional debut on Epson’s stand at PacPrint 2025, which runs from May 20-23, 2025 at the Sydney Showgrounds.
The SC-S7160, a four-colour eco-solvent printer, incorporates advanced technologies that Epson says improve user experience and print quality. These include Epson’s advanced 3.4cm wide PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead which facilitates faster printing and wider print width in a single pass, increasing the number of nozzles from 360 to 400.
The SureColor S7160 uses a larger four-colour UltraChrome GS3 800 ml ink pouch system, which Epson says enables vibrant and accurate prints on a variety of media types, including vinyl, canvas, film, wallpaper, and other roll media up to 1,626mm wide.
The transition from 700 ml cartridges to 800 ml ink bags reduces the frequency of ink replacement, while being 84 per cent lighter and generating 91 per cent less waste per bag, aligning with Epson’s sustainability goals.
It includes an advanced auto tension control system and a reinforced media feed roller for high-precision media feeding. Built on a market-proven, robust chassis with an accurate media feed system, the printer also incorporates an air circulation system that removes ink mist, capturing it in filters.
A printhead guard helps prevent media crashes while a new automatic head cleaning system ensures consistent performance.
Another key function, a carriage temperature sensor, detects temperature differences, allowing for accurate temperature compensation to minimise colour variations. This feature maintains uniformity between the beginning and end of longer print jobs, compensating for changes in ink temperature and nozzle surfaces caused by the platen heater.
Its 11cm user-oriented interface and touchpad allow to easily manage ink levels and other functions while its LED lighting feature improves visibility during printing operations, allowing users to easily monitor the status of the printer.
Shuhei Sato, product manager for Professional Print Solutions at Epson Australia, says, “Epson continues to expand its signage lineup to meet the diverse demands of the market. The SureColor S7160 is a perfect solution for businesses seeking a cost-effective and high quality signage solution for low to medium production volumes.”
He EpsonSureColor S7160 integrates with Epson’s advanced management tools, including Epson Edge Print Pro RIP software and Epson Cloud Solution PORT, which provides comprehensive reporting, tracking, and cost analysis to help businesses streamline operations.
Epson expects to ship the new printer in the middle of the year.
