Among the solutions Omet launched at Labelexpo, its XJet hybrid flexo and digital inkjet machine, proved a show stealer.

It targets companies that do small and medium runs that require different versions of the same subject, variable data printing and quick set-up. Powered by Durst, the XJet can print shrink labels with combined technology. The company says it offers the widest range of in line multi-process technologies for finishing requirements such as cold foil, hot foil, embossing, varnishing, peel & seal, delam-relam. Omet adds that, thanks to its experience on tension control, XJet is the first and only hybrid machine on the market able to work shrink materials with combined printing.

The Omet XJet works with a resolution of 1200×1200 dpi with in-line finishing and converting modules and special finishing effects. It prints at 80 metres per minute and offers a customisable configuration.

Omet’s new XFlex X7 flexo printing press, also released at Labelexpo, has comes with a suite of features. Omet says it gives printers the possibility to offer high quality shrink sleeves and flexible packaging materials optimised to print for medium volume quantities.

Amerigo Manzini, director for research and development at Omet, says, Omet has the industry’s largest range of modules and attachments and with the new X7 we present our latest offering, the High Value Rotogravure-HVR, which we believe will disrupt the way printers achieve the special print effects on shrink sleeves and flexible packaging materials.”

In addition to the HVR, the X7 also integrates several printing and converting technologies in line along with a new flexo station designed with a zero gears solution. It has nine servos on each printing unit offering fully automatic printing pressures, automatic pre-registration and Omet’s multi-vision registration camera. The X7’s modular design also allows OMET to offer different possibilities of combination printing and special effects with the Soft Touch Vertical Flexo Station and a new rotary screen unit available in 670mm.

Manzini adds, “Our soft touch vertical flexo station is another great unit to be seen at the show, as it allows printers to work with soft touch applications with both water and solvent based inks.”
