The Exotic Graphix team from Carrum Downs in Victoria won the Trans-Tasman Wrap challenge at the Sign NZ Expo, beating New Zeland champions Sign It from Queenstown.

Led by Nick Caminiti, the Exotic Graphix team finished well ahead of the Kiwis, who battled well to stay in the hunt. However, Warren Burroughs, chief judge, said the Australian team won quite convincingly.

Caminiti thanked his team members Callum Fulcher and Leigh Mason for their efforts. He said, “We work well together as a team. We get along well and, since winning the Australian title in September, we have kept the team going and we knew we could win this if we continued on from the Australian competition.”

Commiserations went to the Queenstown-based Sign It team of Shaun Wilson, Zac Stoddard and Riley Burt, who gave it their all but couldn’t beat a well-drilled Aussie wrap unit.

Sign It had won a Mimaki printer, a prize donated by Total Supply, the day before when it beat four other Kiwi teams to take out the New Zealand Wrap title. Industry suppliers donated almost $40,000 worth of prizes for the competition.

The competition wrapped up the Sign NZ Expo, which ran last weekend as an opening for the NZSDA Awards night on Saturday.
