Over 250 students and 120 printing industry members turned out for the two-day Print Christchurch event.

Held in conjunction with the Pride In Print Awards and the Mainland Apprentice of the Year Awards, Print Christchurch consisted of a Careers Day aimed towards students / the general public and an Industry Day which featured various events relevant to PrintNZ members.

The Careers Day kicked off with a Careers Breakfast, which saw 40 people, mainly Careers Advisors, learn more about the industry. Graham Fear from Chaucer Press was guest speaker, and gave an employers perspective on training. From 9am the venue opened and students from many local schools viewed interactive displays, attended Career Talks and took away goodie bags that contained samples of different kinds of printed work.

A large display of winning work from this years Pride In Print Awards was open for viewing over the duration of Print Christchurch. This included all Gold Medal winners plus Highly Commended entries from the South Island and was popular with students and industry members alike.

The evening of August 17 saw 100 people attend the Mainland Apprentice of the Year Awards, where Spicers Paper Chief Executive, Charles Miller, was guest speaker. Jonathan Main from Chaucer Press was announced as the top apprentice and Rohan Gillan from FPS International announced the runner-up. Many attendees took the opportunity to mix and mingle while viewing the Pride In Print Award winners. Thank you to Spicers Paper and PAITC, sponsors of this event.

Day two of Print Christchurch, the Industry Day, saw over 120 members of the local printing community attend the Business Breakfast, Business Seminar and Pride In Print Judging Seminar.
