The Ilumina Digital Colour Press is the only printer on the market which can print on super heavy card of up to 427gm weight and comes with a straight paper path that ensures all the heavy sheets are flat and easily finished.
It is competitively priced to appeal to small to medium size New Zealand businesses while having similar features to more expensive digital machines.
Netropolitan’s Gerald Hochwimmer says the printer has an Adobe Postscript 3 internal RIP unlike many systems which still rely on an external RIP which sometimes have to be leased to run equipment.
It uses multi-bit colour creating 32 shades providing vivid colour for every job with no make-ready and it comes with a colour densitometer to check ink density while the job is running. This continually monitors image quality and will make the required adjustments to consistently produce a high quality image from the first to the last.
Gerald says the press is ideal for copy shops or printers wanting to enter the market or improve their service because it has a total input capacity of 2800 sheets with minimal set-up time and can be configured for up to six different paper sizes and weights to handle a variety of jobs.
“This means you can run anything from premium four-colour business cards, postcards, direct mail inserts and brochures to in-store signage on the machine and it is all printed in one pass, just like a normal four-colour press, except the very first print to the last one is saleable.”
He says previous models sold to New Zealand companies have been used in digital proofing and there is interest from some of Netropolitan’s clients in updating their equipment with the new Ilumina because it comes with ColourMatch2 software giving in-depth control over monitor, scanner, source and destination colour profiles.
Also available from Xante is the Impressia chemical free Metal PlateSetter which won first place in the pre-press category of the German Printing Industry’s 2005 Innovation Awards in October. The PlateSetter can image a metal offset plate in under one minute using a chemical-free process.
Netropolitan is also offering Platemaker 4 Myriad Polyester plates (formerly Agfa Link plates) and FilmMaker 4, Myriad Polyester film along with ScreenMaker 4, Myriad Polyester film.
