At the same time, the new system is being marketed in New Zealand by local agent, AM International.

The new Mako CTP System series, available with either a 4-page format, or as a 2-page CTP system with an upgrade path to 4-page capability, has been designed for printers that anticipate business growth.

In its 4-page form, the MAKO System 4 accommodates the widest range of 2- and 4-page presses. The maximum plate size of 615 mm x 745 mm gives generous space for oversize jobs such as 6-page gatefolds, with all printers’ marks and colour bars in position.

Combined with the operational benefits of a straight-through plate path, the MAKO System 4 delivers a speed of 20 plus Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2540 dpi.

The new Mako System 4x is the latest evolution in MAKO CTP imaging. It utilizes next generation patented optical technology that delivers higher levels of imaging accuracy. The System 4x also employs an autopinch/auto-image feature for hands-free operation after initial plate positioning.

It images plates for a wide range of press formats from 228mm x 252 mm up to 660 mm x 960 mm and offers resolution sets from 1200-3556 dpi and images over 20 Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2540 dpi.

The System 4x is one of the first violet CTP devices in the world that offers customers a clear path for moving to processless technology, when available. This transition means that the System 4x is future-proof, enabling customers to be ready to take advantage of those efficiencies achievable in cost and timesavings, while still capable of imaging conventional violet plates.

ECRM also offers a new automatic platemaking device, MAKO4matic, an automated system including a new online punching capability.
The new online punching system has a unique design, using one set of punches to achieve multiple configurations, with press notches positioned at any point on the grip edge of the plate. Supplied with four punch dyes (2 x Bacher and 2 x Komori), the automatic system can accommodate almost all popular punching configurations on plate sizes up to 635 mm x 927 mm.

Online punching improves overall productivity and provides excellent repeatability and easy plate mounting, with subsequent shorter makereadies.
