Less than one-fifth of the floor space currently remains unbooked at the Auckland Showgrounds, where over 100 exhibitors are expected to entertain over 4500 industry professionals from June 11-13 next year.

Among latest developments, the enlarged event’s 3500-square-metre floorplan has been completed and New Zealand Printer confirmed as the official Printech publication and provider of day-to-day visitor newsletter bulletins.

This and other up-to-the-minute information is also regularly being added to the event’s Website , where potential visitors can download a PDF preview brochure and even register online.

Commenting specifically on the recently-published brochure, Printech sales manager Irene Smith says as well as providing a lot of relevant data, the printed version was the first time a multi-level embossing block created via laser etching had been used in New Zealand.

“This brochure reflects the print industry at its best, showcasing superior skill and technology complemented by great creative and expert paper selection”, says Ms Smith.

“The contours of the embossing were formed using shadows for low-relief and highlights for high relief. The production of this excellent brochure would not have been possible without the support of Gusto Brand Consultants, McCollams Print, Spicers Paper and Wellington Print Finishers.”

Printing Supplies and Machinery’s Rhys Daube, whose company is significantly expanding its floorspace to 116 square metres, says Printech attendance is a priority.

“It is important that people see the technology and appreciate we are up there with everyone else — and in some cases are more advanced,” he says.

Mr Daube says his company, which supplies and services new and second-hand printing machinery, realised definite business gains following the 2002 event.

“We did actually sell some smaller items at the show, but most of our contacts came to fruition sometime afterwards — even up to a year or 18 months later people remembered we had a particular machine on display etc.”

Printing Supplies and Machinery also won “Best Stand” at Printech 2002, during which it had New Zealand Warriors players come to the show and sign calendars printed on the spot.

Jenrite New Zealand managing director Steven Kemp says the last event completely changed his opinion about the relevance of such printing shows.

“It was probably the first show where we have shown a substantial return on investment,” he says.

New exhibitor, Ink Solutions and Qros managing director David Firman, says his Christchurch-based companies are seizing the opportunity to take their inks and coatings, and specialised films and materials to a wider audience.

Mr Firman says Qros will officially launch its new Qros Magnecote paper line.
