Printers worldwide are now able to produce inkjet proofs using the GretagMacbeth device, GMG vice president of sales and business development Jawdatt Mawassii says.

“Our latest software, GMG ProofControl o4, provides customers with positive verification of the colour integrity of their proofs. The spectral measurement accuracy, speed and easy chart feeding of the Eye-One iSis were clear differentiators in helping us to select the best fit for our solution.

“Moreover, it is the only instrument available in the market which handles test charts up to A3+ format, speeding up the printer characterisation process, which is extremely important to our high-end proofing and packaging customers.”

The newest Eye-One based spectrophotometer—known as the “Eye-One iSis”—is currently in the final testing phase.

It has a unique built-in vision system, and allows the operator to feed in the chart with high alignment tolerance, minimising handling errors. The standard A4+ version measurement of an A4+ test chart with up to 1,100 patches per page; the A3+ version, with as many as 2,500 patches, can be printed on a single A3+ page. For large format printing, long charts (up to 1 m) can be measured on both device sizes to minimize paper waste .

The Eye-One iSis A4 and A3+ versions will be available in July 2006 as separate accessories through GMG authorized dealers worldwide.

GMG is a software company that specialises in high-end colour management for the entire graphic arts industry.
