HP – which has Currie Group as its exclusive channel partner in Australasia- will have the largest stand at drupa at 6,200sqm, where it will introduce a host of new HP Indigo solutions, as increasing numbers of printers in New Zealand and Australia install the presses.

HP Inc will launch five HP Indigo digital presses, three HP PageWide Web Presses, and innovative cross-platform enhancements in quality, productivity, versatility and colour at the show.

Craig Paul, manager for Currie Group New Zealandsays Kiwi staff will help man HP’s stand to demonstrate the new equipment to the New Zealanders visiting the giant trade show. He says, “Quite a few of our clients will head up to drupa and they will have plenty to see on the HP  stand and other Currie Group partner stands.”

Graham McDonald, sales manager at Currie New Zealand, believes that HP’s stand will reflect its market position, with its presses by far the dominant solutions in their markets. He says, “The HP drupa stand will graphically demonstrate how the company is broadening print service providers’ (PSPs) possibilities for high-value commercial applications to help drive business growth.”

He says that HP has made the most significant HP Indigo Liquid Electrophotography technology breakthroughs in 20 years, adding that the new HP Indigo portfolio represents those breakthroughs. It includes the HP Indigo 12000, 7900, and 5900 Digital Presses; the oversize B1-format duplex HP Indigo 50000 Digital Press; the HP Indigo WS6800p Digital Press for photo specialty applications; and an improved HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press, now equipped for commercial applications. McDonald says the new and enhanced presses build on the proven success of the HP Indigo platforms announced at drupa 2012.

He says, “The new HP Indigo portfolio features cross-platform innovations that reinvent general commercial printing for print companies. HP Indigo customers can further enhance their productivity with more than 260 solutions from more than 80 workflow and finishing partners, offering end-to-end solutions tailored for a wide range of applications.”

The new HP Indigo portfolio will begin shipping in the second half of 2016, and it expects the new HP Indigo features to arrive as optional field upgrades in 2016. It will make the New High Definition Laser Array technology, for the HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press, available in 2017.

Currie Group says solutions for print production in the new era – including HP Indigo, Scodix and Horizon – target high value applications.

At drupa, HP will demonstrate label and packaging solutions in upgrades for the HP Indigo 20000 and 30000 Digital Presses as well as new ink and substrate options.

Horizon will have a new finishing solution on its stand. The SmartSlitter, an all-in-one smart sheet processing system, can slit, gutter cut, edge trim, cross-cut, perforate, and crease, all in one pass. It can be enhanced with JDF workflow from upstream to postpress using the Horizon pXnet bindery control system.

Horizon will also have a new BQ-480 perfect binder, the fourth generation of BQs, superceding the BQ-470. Paul says, “It offers a significant speed increase over the previous model and it can work inline with a three knife trimmer. It gives you the options of EVA and PUR glue, with simple wheel in wheel out tanks.”

He describes Scodix as the leading provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry. He says, “Scodix will demonstrate its comprehensive product portfolio, including a new digital enhancement platform and additional applications on stand D-60 in Hall 4.”
